WSH Guidelines Implementation of WSH Management System for the Marine Industries

Overview
Curriculum

The Workplace Safety and Health (Safety and Health Management System and Auditing) Regulations require shipyards to implement a Workplace Safety and Health Management System (WSHMS), which involves conducting regular audits and reviews. A WSHMS is a structured framework for managing safety and health in the workplace, aiming for continuous improvement and creating safer environments for workers.

To help companies better understand WSHMS requirements, the Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI), the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), and the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council jointly published the Workplace Safety and Health Manual for Marine Industries in 2009. Known as the 'Guideline (2009),' this document is based on 14 essential elements for process safety management systems, providing a comprehensive guide for the marine industry.

With the release of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 45001:2018, which sets out the requirements for occupational health and safety management systems, the WSH Council, ASMI, and MOM revised the original guidelines. The updated version integrates all 14 elements from the 2009 guideline with a systematic approach that aligns with the new ISO 45001:2018 standard. This ensures companies can develop a more robust and comprehensive WSHMS that not only complies with local regulations but also meets international standards.

This training course is designed to help companies in the marine industry effectively implement the updated guidelines. Participants will learn how to establish and maintain an efficient WSHMS, aligning it with both local and international standards. The course also highlights best practices in workplace safety and health, enabling companies to enhance safety management and protect their workers.

By completing this course, participants will gain the knowledge needed to improve safety processes, contributing to a safer and healthier working environment in the marine industry.
