This training course is designed to provide landscape contractors, supervisors, and workers with a thorough understanding of workplace safety and health (WSH) guidelines specific to the landscaping sector. The course emphasizes the importance of complying with the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, which came into effect in March 2006 and was expanded in 2011 to cover all workplaces, including those involved in landscaping maintenance. Under the Act, all stakeholders are responsible for managing workplace risks and ensuring the safety and health of their workers.
Landscaping work involves various hazards such as working near moving traffic, working at heights, exposure to excessive noise, handling machinery and equipment, contact with insects, exposure to chemicals, and heat stress. These hazards can lead to accidents, injuries, illnesses, and even fatalities if not properly managed. This course will cover how these risks can be mitigated through proper safety practices, hazard identification, and preventive measures.
The training is divided into two parts for ease of understanding:
By completing this course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to implement safety management practices in their landscaping operations. These practices aim to prevent accidents and health risks, promoting a safer work environment. The ultimate goal is to achieve zero harm in the workplace, protecting both workers and employers from the consequences of unsafe work conditions.
