Overview
Curriculum

This training course on lift modernisation, installation, and dismantling (MID) is designed to provide essential guidance for stakeholders in the lift industry. As lifts are a crucial part of daily life in high-rise buildings across Singapore—serving residential, commercial, and public spaces—safety during lift operations is paramount. This course addresses the potential risks involved in lift work and equips participants with the knowledge to conduct such operations safely.

The course focuses on the safety protocols required during the modernisation, installation, and dismantling of electric passenger and goods lifts. Improper handling of these activities can expose both workers and bystanders to significant risks, including falls, electrical hazards, and mechanical failures. Therefore, it is vital for everyone involved in MID operations to adhere to strict safety practices, ensuring the protection of all personnel in and around the worksite.

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to meet the requirements of relevant Singaporean legislation and Codes of Practice. The course provides comprehensive information on how to safely manage lift MID projects in various workplace settings, ensuring compliance with the highest safety standards.

The training covers a range of topics, including risk assessments, safe work procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during lift operations. Additionally, participants will gain practical knowledge on good practices for conducting lift modernisation projects, installing new lifts, and safely dismantling outdated systems.

By the end of the course, stakeholders will be well-versed in the essential safety guidelines for lift MID operations. They will also understand how to implement effective risk management strategies, comply with relevant legal requirements, and apply industry best practices to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant lift work. This will help improve overall workplace safety and minimize risks associated with lift operations in high-rise buildings.
